Moonbeam is a smart contract platform designed to provide Ethereum-compatible functionality on the Polkadot network. It enables developers to deploy existing Solidity Smart Contracts on Polkadot with minimal modifications. By offering interoperability between Ethereum and Polkadot, Moonbeam aims to combine the strengths of both ecosystems—Ethereum’s widespread adoption and Polkadot’s scalability and shared security. This allows for seamless integration and communication between the two networks, facilitating a more connected and efficient blockchain environment.

Objectives of Moonrise Quests

During Moonbeam’s rebranding efforts, the team aimed to not only refresh their visual identity but also to strengthen community engagement. By launching interactive quests and challenges, they sought to foster community competition, educate users about the platform’s new features, and gather valuable feedback to enhance the network. This strategic move was designed to align the community more closely with Moonbeam’s evolving brand and mission.

Promoting On-Chain Activity for Participating DApps Stimulating transaction activity for participating DApps was a key objective. Encouraging real users to interact with these DApps on mainnet while ensuring a seamless and secure experience.

Challenges

Since this was not a testnet campaign, users were dealing with real tokens rather than test tokens. Crafting on-chain quests required delicate consideration to maintain a fair reward-to-effort ratio. The challenge was to engage users meaningfully without imposing excessive financial risk or burden.

Adhering to Moonbeam’s Branding Strategy Guidelines Compliance with Moonbeam’s branding strategy was essential, as outlined in their guidelines. Ensuring all promotional materials and user interactions aligned with the brand’s identity demanded meticulous attention to detail. This included consistency in messaging, visuals, and overall user experience.

Managing Compliance Across Different Geographies Adhering to strict contest rules and navigating compliance issues in various geographies added complexity. Running a contest at this scale required careful management of legal considerations to ensure adherence to regional regulations and fair participation worldwide.

Customizing Onboarding Flows Based on User Geography Directing users through different onboarding processes depending on their location introduced another layer of complexity. For example, U.S. citizens needed a more detailed onboarding flow and received stablecoins as rewards, whereas non-U.S. participants followed a different path. Tailoring these experiences while maintaining cohesion was challenging.

Enabling Direct Reward Claims Post-Program Allowing users to claim their rewards directly from the quest system after the program concluded required a robust and secure mechanism. Ensuring this process was smooth and user-friendly was crucial for maintaining participant satisfaction and trust.

Operating Within Strict Timelines Meeting tight deadlines added pressure to execute all aspects of the campaign efficiently. Coordinating multiple teams and ensuring timely delivery of each component demanded effective project management and agile responsiveness to any issues.

Keeping Users Engaged on Mainnet with Varied On-Chain Actions Continuously changing the on-chain actions—such as swapping tokens, bridging assets, adding liquidity pools, playing games, and minting NFTs—was essential to keep users engaged and prevent boredom. Designing diverse yet coherent tasks for all DApps involved required creativity and careful planning to sustain user interest throughout the campaign.

Building Moonrise with AirLyftX Whitelabel

To bring the Moonrise Quests to fruition, Moonbeam partnered with AirLyftX, utilizing their Whitelabel solution to build, deploy, and manage the quest system seamlessly. AirLyftX’s Whitelabel platform offered a comprehensive suite of features such as customizable branding, allowing Moonbeam to maintain consistency with their new visual identity. The platform provided robust user engagement tools, advanced analytics for tracking participation, and secure on-chain integrations to handle mainnet transactions.

Additionally, AirLyftX facilitated compliance management across different geographies, ensuring adherence to contest rules and regional regulations. The flexibility of the platform enabled Moonbeam to provide dashboards to all their participating DApps, their support helped design diverse on-chain activities—including token swaps, bridging assets, adding liquidity, gaming, and NFT minting—keeping users engaged throughout the campaign. The seamless reward distribution system allowed participants to claim their rewards directly once the program concluded, enhancing user satisfaction. This collaboration empowered Moonbeam to focus on community engagement and competition, while AirLyftX handled the technical complexities of the quest system.

Results & Outcomes

Quick Go-live The entire quest system was developed and deployed within a tight timeline of three weeks. This quick turnaround demonstrated effective collaboration between Moonbeam and AirLyftX, as well as agile project management.
