Objectives of the Testnet Campaign

As a pivotal part of their growth strategy, Tanssi Network launched the “Let’s Forking Dance” testnet campaign with the following objectives & incentives:

Boost Community, Developer & Block Producer Participation

Engage a diverse range of participants—including Users, Builders, and Block Producers—to foster a vibrant and active community around the Tanssi Network.

Stress-Test the Network

Generate millions of on-chain activities to rigorously evaluate the network’s performance under heavy load conditions, identifying any potential issues before the mainnet launch.

Incentivize Engagement

Allocate 1% of Tanssi Network tokens across three separate tracks to effectively motivate participants and reward their contributions to the testnet.

Validate Robustness and Scalability

Use the campaign as a comprehensive testbed to ensure the network’s infrastructure is robust, secure, and capable of scaling to meet future demands.

Challenges

In pursuit of their ambitious objectives, Tanssi Network faced several significant challenges that needed to be addressed to ensure the success of the “Let’s Forking Dance” testnet campaign:

Maintaining a Fun and Simple Brand Language

The “Let’s Forking Dance” campaign needed to embody Tanssi Network’s fun and easy communication style. The platform and campaign materials needed to be perfectly in line with Tanssi’s brand identity—engaging, approachable, and free of unnecessary complexity.

Automated Validation of Millions of On-Chain and Off-Chain Quests

Building a system capable of automatically validating millions of on-chain and off-chain quests without extensive manual intervention was a substantial technical hurdle. Implementing geographical restrictions and preventing sybil attacks through VPN checks and CAPTCHA verification presented technical challenges. The platform had to ensure compliance with regional regulations and maintain a fair environment by blocking fraudulent or duplicate entries without hindering genuine users’ experience.

Reward Distribution Strategy

Designing an effective reward distribution strategy was challenging because the product was still operating on the testnet. Tanssi needed to first award NFTs to winners across different tiers on a different blockchain, and then distribute the actual rewards once the platform launched on the mainnet.

  2. Easy Onboarding with X Account Login: Users could effortlessly log in using their X accounts without the immediate need for a wallet. This lowered the barrier to entry, allowing users to familiarise themselves with the platform through off-chain quests, informative videos, and quizzes before engaging in on-chain activities.

Advanced Leaderboards for Enhanced Engagement

  1. Tanssian Leaderboard: This leaderboard collected data from the quest system and users’ connected wallets. It calculated on-chain activities such as transactions and gas used, applying a standardisation formula to rank users accurately. This comprehensive approach motivated participants by showcasing their progress and fostering healthy competition.

  2. Builder Leaderboard: Similarly, this leaderboard ranked appchain developers (builders) by evaluating their contributions. It combined on-chain data and quest engagement metrics to provide a holistic ranking system for developers, encouraging them to actively participate and contribute to the ecosystem.

Comprehensive Support and Onboarding

  1. Support Pages and Onboarding Flow: The platform included dedicated support pages and an intuitive onboarding process for new users. This ensured participants could navigate the campaign effortlessly, understand how to engage with quests, and maximise their experience.

  2. Over 150,000 unique users participated in the campaign, engaging with both on-chain and off-chain quests. This high level of participation demonstrated the platform’s effectiveness in attracting and retaining users.

  3. Participants completed 8 million quests, reflecting the platform’s ability to sustain user interest and encourage continuous engagement. The diverse range of quests catered to users of all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned blockchain enthusiasts.

  4. The campaign generated 3 million on-chain activities, providing a rigorous stress test for the Tanssi Network. This volume of transactions validated the network’s scalability and robustness, identifying areas for optimization before the mainnet launch.
